Behind the Scenes at Woodmont Natural Resource Mgmt Area

Discover the hidden treasures of Woodmont Natural Resource Area on April 18th, from 8 am to 12:30 pm, as we take you on an exclusive Behind the Scenes tour. Formerly known as the Woodmont Rod & Gun Club property, this expansive 3,425-acre area near Hancock offers a variety of outdoor activities including hiking, hunting, mountain biking, bird watching, and horseback riding. With 2,000 acres open year-round and an additional 1,400 acres available seasonally, there's always an adventure awaiting.

You will have a chance to marvel at the breathtaking views of West Virginia and the Potomac River from the iconic Woodmont Lodge, spanning an impressive 18,745 square feet. Steeped in history, this lodge has hosted an array of distinguished guests including six U.S. Presidents, esteemed senators and congressmen, sports legends like Babe Ruth and Gene Tunney.

Our day will begin with a tour and history of the lodge area followed by your choice of hiking or clay bird shooting! We will meet at the old Bed Bath & Beyond parking lot off of Rt 40 to carpool. We will depart promptly at 8am. You may also choose to drive yourself but we do ask that you stay for the duration of the event as their team has prepared a great day for us!

Join us at Meinelschmidt Distillery for a night of fun with Pour House Trivia on Thursday, April 27, 2023 as classes battle for who will be the brightest class ever! Team check-in begins at 5:30pm, Trivia begins PROMPTYLY at 6pm.

Teams will be created according to class number with no more that 6 people per team. It may be possible that some classes will have more than one team. We will also have a joint class team for those of you with fewer than 6 classmates attending.

Behind the Scenes: MD DNR

Join us for a Behind the Scenes event with Maryland DNR at Blair's Valley Lake in Clear Spring, MD on April 19, 2023 at 2pm.

DNR Wildlife Specialist will talk with our group about wildlife management, food plotting and outdoor recreation in the Clear Spring area. This will be a completely outdoor event in which we will walk around the property to get a first hand look at some of the current projects underway at Blairs Valley Lake.

Following the walk and talk, Members are encouraged to stay, chat, connect and enjoy the outdoors with fellow LWC graduates. Light snacks and bottles of water will be provided.

Casual attire, including jeans and comfortable outdoor walking shoes are HIGHLY encouraged as we will be walking around the lake through the woods.

The group will meet for coffee and/or breakfast one Wednesday morning a month from 8:30 to 9:30am at Free Range Café on Northern Avenue in Hagerstown, MD. River Bottom Roasters will be sponsoring the Coffee Talk by offering  complimentary coffee for our first 3 meetings and discounted coffee for our get-togethers there after. Looking forward to seeing each of you that registered to attend! We are hoping to expand this initiative into additional groups next Fall.

This event is open to ALL GRADUATES and LWC Class #36. The panel discussion will be held on March 21, 2023 @ 7:30AM. The panel will include Greg Snook with CHIEF, Linda Ebersole with Downtown Baseball, LLC and Dan Spedden with Visit Hagerstown.

Coffee and a light breakfast will be provided at 7:30AM.

Panel discussion begins promptly at 8AM.

Amazon Tour

February 9, 2023 we will tour the Amazon facility at 1115 Wesel Blvd in Hagerstown and engage in a panel discussion with Amazon Executives. We will hear from the Amazon site leader as well as executives focused on Economic Development, State and Local Public Policy, Community Engagement, and Workforce Development.

There will be two times for the tour with the panel discussion in between the tours. This will be a 2-hour event with the following timeline:

1 p.m. - 2 p.m. Tour Group 1

2 p.m.- 3 p.m. Panel Discussion

3 p.m.- 4 p.m. Tour Group 2

Please sign up for ONLY ONE of the two groups. We can only accommodate 15 people per group.

Tour Group 1 session will begin PROMPTLY at 1 p.m. and conclude at 3 p.m. while Tour Group 2 session will begin at 2 p.m. and conclude at 4 p.m.

We kindly ask that if you register for this event, you remain committed to attending on February 9th for the duration of your session out of respect for the Amazon executives who are taking time to accommodate a panel discussion, questions and two tours of the facility.

This program is a quick glimpse into what life can be like for impoverished people around the world. During this experience, participants to work together at a house in the village and must work together to acquire their food and cook their lunch over a fire. Join us Tuesday, March 1, 2022, 9am-Noon for an exclusive GRADUATE MEMBER event.

Behind the Scenes tour of the Maryland Cultivation and Processing operations at District Cannabis located at 560 Western Maryland Parkway, Hagerstown, MD 21740.

This event is open to Graduate MEMBERS only! SPACES ARE LIMITED!

Once you register, you will choose, via an emailed Sign-Up Genius, a 1-Hour tour time. Tours will be available at 9am, 10am and 11am. 2 Groups per hour with 6 people per group. Time slot sign-ups will be on a first-come, first serve basis.

All participants will be required to:

o Wear a mask, hairnet & booties

o Avoid going into any fields or greenhouses the day before

o Leave coats in vehicle

o Complete temperature check prior to entering facility
