The Washington County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting another Cultural Conversation that is FREE for members of LWC, the Chamber and GHC. This conversation will be centered around Parenting equity in the workplace.
Virtual education during COVID has placed extraordinary demands on parents and caregivers. Work demands, childcare, and health concerns all add to the stress of parenting – which is already challenging enough! In addition, COVID has further exposed existing challenges, and introduced new challenges, in ensuring PARENTING policies, procedures, and culture, are EQUITABLE. Therefore, CULTURAL CONVERSATIONS are beneficial to understanding regulatory expectations, the employees' wants and needs, and employer capabilities to ensure we retain and recruit the strongest talent and businesses to our community.
On June 15th our panel of experts will be discussing this topic and focusing on:
Demands on parents (virtual schooling, childcare, employment responsibilities).
Workplace environments conducive to families (in the office and virtually).
Workplace benefits conductive to families (health care, family leave).
Available resources (small versus large businesses).
Paul Frey, president of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, will be hosting the event, and our guest panelists will include:
Carrie Aaron: Human Resources Manager for Hub Labels
Jena Judd: Director of Human Resources Operations for Meritus Health (LWC Class 34, 2021)
Kim Lundy: President of Kim Lundy HR Consulting
Amber Mowery: co-owner of JDog Junk Removal
There will be plenty of time allotted to ask questions and to provide feedback to our panelists.
We hope you can join us for our next Cultural Conversation aimed at shining a light on cultural inequities that may exist in our community, and how organizations like ours can lead by example and help make things better.
An email will be sent to members of LWC, the Chamber and GHC with registration information for this FREE event.
We will be recording the webinar and posting the video on our websites and social media pages for the public to view.
Please contact Janet at the Chamber with any questions or registration problems via phone (301) 739-2015, ext. 100 or email: janet@hagerstown.org.
Each of these conversations will shine a light on cultural inequities that exist in our community and how our three organizations’ members can make an impact by first understanding the issues and then answering our call to action.
This continues to be a collaboration between The Greater Hagerstown Committee, Leadership Washington County, and the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. Each organization will send communication to their active members with information on how to join the Zoom conversation for each week’s topic.
